Can mint authority be restored later?

No. The action is permanent. Teams usually use it to lock token supply once they are sure no new tokens should ever be minted. The Solana program does not expose any instruction to reassign the authority after it is set to null.

What does revoking mint do to existing holders?

It does not change current balances or remove tokens from any wallet. It only prevents any new supply from being minted in the future. Holders keep exactly what they had at the moment of revocation.

Why is my wallet rejected as authority?

This usually means the connected wallet is not the current mint authority for that token. Check the mint address and reconnect with the wallet that actually controls mint permission.

Is revoke mint the same as burning tokens?
